THREE of the five children who suffered severe burns after their bedroom caught fire in Twatasha Township, Kitwe, have died.
Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said Kenson Mpasha, 42, reported that his house caught fire, severely burning five children.
The victims were identified as Memory Mpasha, 18, Kenson Mpasha, 13, Mapalo Mpasha, 6, Bright Mpasha, 3, and a grandchild, Boniface Nasilila, 2.
Mr Mweemba later confirmed that three of the victims Kenson Mpasha, 13, Bright Mpasha, 3, and Boniface Nasilila, 2 succumbed to their injuries at Kitwe Central Hospital.
“The remaining two children have been transferred to Ndola Teaching Hospital, where they remain in critical condition,” he said.
