Lusaka, Wednesday, March 26, 2025 – The Zambia Police Service, through Manda Hill Police Traffic, is investigating a fatal hit-and-run road traffic accident that occurred yesterday, Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at approximately 18:00 hours along Great East Road at the UNZA Footbridge in Lusaka.

The accident involved an unidentified male pedestrian, estimated to be between 40 and 45 years old, of unknown address. The victim sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Also involved was an unknown driver of an unidentified motor vehicle, which was traveling east to west. The extent of the vehicle’s damage remains unknown as the driver fled the scene.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident occurred when the pedestrian attempted to cross the road from the southern to the northern side, at which point he was struck by the unidentified motor vehicle.

The body of the deceased has since been transported to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Mortuary, where it awaits identification and a postmortem examination.

The Zambia Police Service urges any witnesses or individuals with information regarding the driver or vehicle involved to come forward and assist in the investigation.
