ZESCO says it will soon release monthly power rationing schedules due to improved local electricity generation that has achieved stability.
Speaking during a Zesco Malaiti live programme on Facebook, the utility’s Lusaka Distribution Centre senior manager, Bright Mulonda, said the country is now less dependent on power imports.
“At the moment, we are on seven hours, so we have improved. We are stable, that’s why we are even going to revisit the schedules very soon.
“We were dependent so much on the imports and the imports we don’t have so much control of them. Imports can be affected by external factors where we don’t have control,” he said.
