A MAN of Mufulira who has a physical challenge has been killed by a swarm of bees which left about 50 people, one of who is in intensive care unit (ICU), nursing insect stings.
This was after the bees, which were in an abandoned structure, attacked the residents.
The winged insects are believed to have been ‘disturbed’ by a Mufulira Municipal Council (MMC) garbage truck which had gone to collect dirt in the area.
Mufulira lawmaker Golden Mwila and Kamuchanga Ward councillor Paul Chileshe confirmed the incident in separate interviews.
Mr Mwila said the attack happened on Wednesday after council workers disrupted the bees, which had been occupying the abandoned structure for over two months.
