About 800 farmers under the Farmer Input Support Program in Namwala’s Mobola Ward have been compensated with K2,500 each by Medson Agro-dealers in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture.

Mobola Ward Development Committee Chairperson, Boyd Sibeenzu Mawaala, stated to Byta FM News that the compensation was provided after most farmers in the region experienced another devastating crop failure due to poor rainfall patterns.

Sibeenzu explained that the payments would help small-scale farmers avoid selling essential assets amidst food shortages and prepare adequately for the next farming season.

Holland Maambo, one of the beneficiaries, encouraged fellow farmers to use the money wisely, noting that the gesture has brought relief as they gear up for the next farming season.
