The Africa Youth Growth Foundation – AYGF has donated assorted food and non-food items worth over K20,000 to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU, meant for flood-affected communities.

The items include 20 x 5kg bags of rice, 20 x 10kg bags of mealie meal, 20 x 1kg packets of salt, 20 bottles of cooking oil and 60 tablets of bathing soap.

Speaking during the donation, AYGF Country Representative Malama Zulu said the recent floods had affected many families and the foundation had seen it wise to come on board and donate the items.

Ms. Zulu said the donation is part of the foundation’s wider humanitarian and development strategy aimed at providing rapid response and recovery assistance to disaster-affected populations.

DMMU National Coordinator, NORMAN Norman Chipakupaku has thanked the AYGF for the donation which he said would go a long way in providing relief to the communities.

Mr. Chipakupaku said the DMMU would ensure that the donated items reach the intended beneficiaries.

He has also thanked all the partners who have come on board since the declaration of drought as a disaster by President Hakainde Hichilema last year.

Mr. Chipakupaku said DMMU, through the office of the Vice President would continue responding to disaster happenings in the country.
