Luano Town Council Chairman Paul Tembo has expressed concern over the stalled construction of new chief’s palaces in Luano District, describing the situation as unfortunate.

Mr. Tembo said it is disheartening that traditional leaders in the district are living in unfinished structures without access to clean and reliable water. He has since directed the Luano Town Council to prioritise improving the water situation at the existing palace sites to ensure chiefs have a steady supply.

Meanwhile, Luano District Commissioner Kells Meleki has announced that the construction of chief’s palaces under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) will commence this year.

Mr. Meleki explained that, following the Presidential directive to utilise CDF for the construction of palaces, all six chiefs in Luano District had agreed that the first palace to be built should be for Senior Chief Mboroma.

He further revealed that the Zambia National Service (ZNS) has been engaged to carry out the construction works, marking the first-ever government-built palace in the district.
