Government says it is committed to fostering the development of local pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply chain that prioritise efficiency in the country.

Ministry of Health Assistant Director for Pharmaceutical Services, Maxwell Kasonde says the government is keen to ensure that the pharmaceutical industry in the country thrives with modern infrastructure through manufacturing plants that are being set up so as to contribute to the country’s GDP.

Mr Kasonde noted that this is being implemented with the aim of improving service delivery by adding value to the sector.

He was speaking when he officiated at the Early Career Pharmaceutical Group (ECPG) Inaugural Conference in Lusaka yesterday which is supported by the International Pharmacy Development Standards (FIP DGs) as well as the Pharmaceutical Society of Zambia (PSZ).

And speaking earlier, Pharmaceutical Society of Zambia (PSZ) president, Keegan Mwape who commended the partnership shared between PSZ and ECPG reaffirmed its commitment to working with young people in the industry through the group in order to advance the pharmaceutical profession in the country.
