The House of Chiefs has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Zambia’s Sixth Republican President, Edgar Lungu.

In a statement made available to ZANIS House of Chiefs Chairperson oʻChief Choongo, said Dr Lungu’s death is a painful loss to the nation, adding that his leadership and contributions will forever be engraved in Zambia’s history.

“On behalf of the 286 Chiefs and their traditional structures in Zambia, and indeed on my own behalf as Chairperson of the House of Chiefs of Zambia, I would like to register our sincere sorrow on the passing of His Excellency President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

“As he joins the rest of his brothers, the former Presidents of our beloved nation who have all gone before him, we pray to the Almighty God to console his dear wife Madam Esther Lungu, the Sixth First Lady of the Republic of Zambia, the children, the entire Lungu family and all of us his Zambian family during this somber period in our motherland,” Chief Chongo added.
