Lusaka based journalist Nicholas Bwalya aged 49, has died this afternoon at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka, where he had been receiving treatment for the fifth time in recent months.

Mr. Bwalya had been battling obstructive jaundice, a condition caused by a blockage of the bile duct, which prevents bile from flowing from the liver to the small intestine.

The illness, which can be triggered by gallstones, tumors, or inflammation, had severely affected his health over the past months.
