A 46-year-old man from Chief Sinadambwe’s area in Siavonga District is battling for his life after being shot in the neck by unknown individuals.
Southern Province Deputy Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo said the victim, identified as Identy Hanambe, was standing at the entrance of his grocery shop, which is attached to his house, when the incident occurred around 19:30 hours on Saturday.
According to Namalongo, Hanambe was shot from behind and collapsed, calling out to his wife, Clayness Kamwale, saying someone was trying to kíll him.
The victim’s wife rushed to the scene and found him bleeding, before seeking help from neighbours who assisted in transporting him to the hospital.
Deputy Police Chief Namalongo reported that Hanambe’s condition is currently stable, although no arrests have been made so far.
Police investigations into the shòòting are underway.
