A tragic accident has claimed the life of an 18-year-old motorbike rider in Chasefu District, Eastern Province.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba, confirmed the development, stating that the incident occurred on July 19, 2025, around 17:00 hours.
The deceased, Obert Kanyinji from Kajumbila Village in Chief Magodi, was riding a Kazonga motorbike from north to south on the Kapekesa gravel road when he lost control while attempting to negotiate a curve due to excessive speed.
He careered off the road and hit a tree, sustaining a head injury and a fractured left leg, and died on the spot.
The body has been deposited into Lundazi Mortuary Hospital awaiting a postmortem examination.
