A 12-year-old girl in Chief Kawaza of Katete District has been dèfiled by a man who is currently on the run.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba, said the incident occurred on July 19, 2025, around 15:00 hours.
Mr. Mweemba says the girl had gone to collect firewood when the suspect, who was herding cattle, forced himself on her.
He says the girl later reported the incident to her mother.
The Police Commissioner says investigations are ongoing, and no arrest has been made yet.
In a separate incident, a 20-year-old man has been arrested for dèfiling a 15-year-old Grade 7 pupil in Chief Chikuwe, Kasenengwa District.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner ROBERTSON MWEEMBA confirmed the development, stating that the incident occurred between March 2025 and July 13, 2025.
The said man had defiled and impregnated the girl.
Mr. Mweemba said a docket has since been opened.
In Chipata District, a stepfather has been arrested for defiling his 14-year-old stepdaughter in Chief Mpzeni.

Mr. Mweemba says the suspect not only defiled the girl but also forced her to terminate the pregnancy by administering unknown medication.
He says the victim suffered abdominal pain for three days but is currently in stable condition.
The Police Commissioner says a medical report has been issued, and the suspect has been arrested.
