A 32-Year-Old Man in Chipata District of Eastern Province has been arrested for allegedly being found in possession of counterfeit notes amounting to K19,200.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba confirmed the arrest of Jackson Tembo, aged 32, of Chief Mwanjawantu in Petauke District.
The incident occurred yesterday, 11th August 2025, at 12:00 hours at Mwami Border trading area.
Mr Mweemba says Mr Tembo was reported to the police by Solomon Jere, aged 32, whom the suspect had approached for business transactions involving 96 K200 counterfeit notes bearing the same serial number.
Mr. Mweemba says Mr Jere reported the suspect to the police after suspecting that the money Mr. Tembo had brought for the transactions was counterfeit.
He says a docket has been opened, and soon the suspect will appear in court.
