A 60-Year-Old Man has allegedly taken his own lífe by hánging himself on a tree in the bush after getting frustrated battling with his swelling legs problem in Lusangazi District of Eastern Province.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba said the incident occurred between yesterday, 14th August 2025, at 19:00 hours and today, 15th August 2025, at 06:00 hours in Nyamphande Village, Chief Nyamphande.
Brief facts of the matter are that, Salatiyele Daka now the deceased had a medical condition of swollen legs, which had troubled him for some time despite visiting several hospitals. He became frustrated to the extent of talking about taking his own lífe on many occasions.
However, yesterday morning, 14th August 2025, his wife, Judith Tembo, aged 54, left for a funeral within the village, and when she returned home at about 19:00 hours, she did not find her husband and thought he could be attending the same funeral.
Mr. Mweemba says it was not until this morning around 06:00 hours that he was found hánging under a tree in the nearby bush.
The Police Commissioner said officers visited the scene and found the body of the deceased, which had been brought down with a fibre rópe still tied around his néck.
He added that the body was inspected, and no marks were found, suspecting no foul play.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited into Petauke District Mortuary, awaiting post-mortem examination results and burial.
