President Hakainde Hichilema says he survived several attacks targeted at him whilst in opposition because God preserved him for a purpose to liberate people.
Speaking during the commissioning of the United Party for National Development (UPND) secretariat named after him in Kitwe yesterday, President Hichilema said his wife Mutinta would have been widowed a long time ago had it not been for God’s intervention.
He recalled several life-threatening situations he escaped in Mpulungu, Nakonde, Luanshya, Sesheke, Ndola, Chingola and Lusaka, among others during his time in opposition.
“We are lucky that we are alive. We must thank God that He kept us for a purpose to liberate the people so that we could send children to school without paying,” President Hichilema said.
