A Man of unknown age has allegedly taken his own lífe by consuming poisònous insècticide at his ex-wife’s yard in Mambwe District of Eastern Province.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident, which occurred on August 26, 2025, in Mphomwa area.
Mr. Mweemba says the deceased, Martin Mbewe, had divorced his wife, Esther Banda, 25, due to marital disputes.
He says on the fateful day, around 03:00 hours, Esther Banda heard someone gasping in pain outside her yard while she was asleep.
Mr. Mweemba says when Esther went to check outside, she found out that it was her former husband who was lying unconscious with a white bottle of insècticide beside him, which he allegedly cònsumed.
He says Esther promptly informed the Section Chairman, who rushed Martin to the Mphomwa Rural Health Post, where he later succumbed to the poisoning.
He says that no foul play is suspected.
