President Hakainde Hichilema has called on the church to continue uniting the communities and the nation at large.
President Hichilema said the church plays a key role in uniting the nation hence the need for it to continue playing that role.
He said this in a speech read on his behalf by Lusaka Province Minister, Sheal Mulyata, at the official opening of the Emmaus Apostolic Church headquarters in Lusaka.
President Hichilema said collaboration between the church and government is key in maintaining peace and unity as well as fostering development.
The Head of State also encouraged the church not to relent in providing the much-needed guidance in a society that has been affected by low moral standards.
Mr Hichilema further said the church should continue engaging the youths and inculcating positivity in them so that they positively contribute to society.
President Hichilema also urged the church to promote and engage in socio-economic activities in the communities.Meanwhile, President Hichilema has donated K30,000 to Emmaus Apostolic Church.
Earlier, Emmaus Apostolic Church Spokesperson, Moses Mwale, said the church ministry views the government as a partner in development.
