A 44-year-old businessman has been convicted for defiling 7 children, who used to visit in his shop in Lusaka’s Kabanana area.
Richard Mwanza, who was facing 7 counts of defilement, has been convicted today by the Lusaka Magistrate Court, which has since committed him to the High Court for sentencing.
Delivering judgement today, Magistrate Chrispin Hampungani said he was satisfied that the prosecution had proved their case against Mwanza beyond reasonable doubt.
Magistrate Hampungani said Mwanza, who is also a Church Elder, acted as a sexual predator, who preyed on the children for a long time.
Facts in this matter were that Mwanza, between January 3, 2023 and November 25, 2024, had carnal knowledge of the 7 girls on separate occasions.
