A 12-year-old girl from Lusaka’s Zingalume Compound who went missing on August 16, 2025, has been found and reunited with her family after three weeks.
The girl has told Diamond News that she was taken by a strange woman without her consent and later placed at Mothers Without Borders Orphanage.
She says she underwent blood tests, was enrolled in school, and was given the name Tasila Lungu on claims that her resemblance to the name would earn her money.
She further alleged that she was threatened that if she returned home, either she or her father would die. She eventually used a phone at the orphanage to call her father, leading to her reunion with family.
Her mother has confirmed that the orphanage later informed them of her presence but expressed dissatisfaction with how her release was handled.
And Mothers Orphanage Country Director Josephine Daka says blood tests are routine for all new arrivals and stressed that proper procedures must be followed before releasing any child.
