The Eastern Province Police Command has apologized for the harassment of Prime TV Eastern Province reporter Christopher Bazilio Banda in Chipata today.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, Robertson Mweemba, confirmed the incident and assured that, going forward, the Zambia Police and journalists will work hand in hand as they serve a common purpose.
Speaking shortly after an engagement with the Eastern Press Club, Mr. Mweemba expressed regret over the incident in which the reporter’s phone was damaged and pledged that the command will repair the mobile phone.
Meanwhile Eastern Press Club President Julius Phiri has condemned the acts by the officer and has called for coexistence between the police and Journalists.
Mr. Phiri has since acknowledged the apology rendered by the Eastern police command.
