The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC, Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja says a Constituency Returning Officer for Nkhoma Constituency Tally Centre in Lilongwe is in police custody, after a failed su!c!de case.
MEC Chairperson, Justice Annabel Mtalimanja, has disclosed this during a press briefing, that is underway at BICC in Lilongwe.
She says currently, the commission has assigned a new Constituency Returning Officer in the area, to conclude the electoral works.
The MEC Chairperson also reveals sixteen local councils have so far, physically submitted results of Tuesday’s general elections to main tally centre in Lilongwe, out of the country’s 36 councils.
Receipt of election results and complaints the commission has received, are the agenda of the press conference.
