Four inmates have escaped from Lubambala Correctional Facility in Mpika District of Muchinga Province.

Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer , Dennis Moola confirmed the incident to ZNBC News stating that the incident occurred on 20 September 2025 at around 11:30 hours.

Mr. Moola said the four escaped while they were at Lubambala farm where they had gone to harvest maize with 29 other inmates.

He said officers at the facility conducted a search, but all efforts proved futile as the four could not be recaptured.

Mr. Moola identified the inmates as Peter Silungwe, who was facing the offence of Breaking into a Building and Committing a Felony Therein, Philimon Muwowo, aged 26, who was facing the offence of Burglary and theft.

Others are Markson Chabinga, aged 25, who was facing the offence of Burglary and theft, and Victor Chilongo , aged 22, who was facing the offence of Burglary and theft.

A docket has been opened, investigations have been instituted, and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the escapees.
