A 34-year-old man in Mpika District of the Muchinga Province has been stabbed in the chest by his wife over messages found on his phone. Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer, Dennis Moola, says the incident occurred on September 23, 2025, around 06:00 hours in Chitulika Village of Chief Chikwanda.

Mr. Moola says Emmanuel Chanda, aged 34, reported to the police that he had been stabbed with a knife on the chest by his wife, Beauty Nambela, aged 25.

Brief facts are that Emmanuel was at home in the bedroom and went to the restroom, leaving his phone on the bed.

Upon returning, he found his phone in wife’s hands, leading to a misunderstanding between them over the messages she had found.

Mr. Moola explains that the wife then went to the living room where she spoke to her mother on the phone, returned to the bedroom holding a knife, and stabbed the husband on the left side of the chest, causing a cut.

Mr. Moola says Emmanuel sustained a cut on the left side of the chest.

He says a docket has been opened, and investigations are underway.

Mr. Moola says the wife has been arrested and will appear in court soon.

A knife has been recovered and is being kept as an exhibit.
