Fatal Accident Claims One Child’s Life While Another Left Injured and Hospitalized Following Pit Latrine Explosion
A fire incident that occurred at Keembe Consistory at St John’s Congregation under Central Presbytery has resulted in the death of one child and another injured and hospitalized.
On Monday 22nd September, 2025, Prince Musukama, 14, and Sangwani Nkata, 12, were severely burnt as a result of their attempt to start a fire in a pit latrine to kill cockroaches. The fire ignited unexpectedly and engulfed the boys in flames.
The boys were taken to St Thomas Health Facility for first aid before being taken to Kabwe Central Hospital for further treatment and surgery.
Unfortunately, Prince Musukama died on Wednesday 24th September, 2025, and he was buried yesterday(Saturday) 27th September in Keembe. Sangwani Nkata, 12, is still at Kabwe Central Hospital.
The church authorities confirmed the incident via teachers Esther and Tamara, while IT/Media Tech Officer, Tr. Chisenga added more information.
