A MAN of Chalala Township is in court on accusations of selling cupcakes laced with marijuana.

This is in a case Frank Kapandula, 31, of Meanwood, is charged with trafficking in psychotropic substances.

Claims are that on June 3, 2025, Kapandula trafficked in 800 grammes of marijuana, a herbal product of cannabis, without lawful authority.

Evidence is that on the material day, Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) officers were alerted that a suspect was dealing in drugs in Chalala.

A team was constituted and dispatched to Chalala, where an undercover agent was led to the suspect’s house, where they found a woman.

A search conducted on the lady yielded nothing but an extension of the inquiry led to the discovery of 33 golden brown cupcakes.

When officers asked the woman who the owner of the cakes was, she told them they belonged to her boyfriend, who was not home at the time.

Kapandula shortly arrived at the premises, where DEC officers had mounted surveillance.

He tried to flee upon noticing police presence but he was apprehended and led into the house, after which he was shown the cupcakes laced with suspected marijuana.

Kapandula admitted ownership of the cupcakes, which were seized and taken to an analyst, who confirmed that they contained marijuana, a cannabis herbal product containing the active ingredient of delta-9 tetrahydrocannibinol (THC).
