With only about 11 months before the country goes to the polls, 45 years old Willah Joseph Mudolo has made headlines after making his intentions known that he plans to run for President in the forthcoming General Election.

But who is Willah Joseph Mudolo? Many may ask.

Born on 25th August, 1980, Mudolo is the son of a Miner, Mr. Joseph Mudolo (Snr) and a shop clerk, Mrs. Ruth Nakawala, who’s hard work and dedication to a better future, he credits to have shaped him into the man he is today.

A Mufulira native who did his Primary Education at Nsami Primary School before Mulekatembo and Isoka Secondary Schools for Secondary, Mudolo’s objective was to further his education so as to prepare himself for leadership one day.

He has since chosen not to just watch and critic as the nation remain stagnant but take up an active role.

He is a holder of an MBA in Finance and Sustainability from the University of Cambria and 2 Masters of Business Administration from the Edinburgh Business School and also from Heriot- Watt University in England.

Added to that, he has a MSc in Finance and Accounting from the Salford University.

He is an accomplished executive and entrepreneur who has scored highly in mining, agriculture and real estate.

Mudolo is of the conviction that Zambia should be in a better position, 61 years after independence but that the nation remains backward while others we once shared status with have progressed.

He has since devised a five (5) pillar of transformation strategy which is as follows;

– People centered development : To lift people out of poverty and into meaningful work, ensuring every citizen is a stakeholder and consumer in the country’s domestic economy. With over 56% of the youth currently facing unemployment, his policies will focus on creating a robust social safety net while investing heavily in skills training and education to prepare the youth for the jobs of both today and the future. he believes in empowering individuals to become active participants in the nation’s growth.

– Economic Resilience: Implement deep economic reforms with a human face, focusing on building a strong and stable economy that can withstand global shocks while protecting most vulnerable citizens. This means diversifying the economy beyond a single commodity, controlling inflation, and managing the national debt responsibly to ensure long-term stability and security for all Zambians.

– Business-Led Growth: Create an enabling environment for the private sector, allowing it to drive wealth creation and generate hundreds of thousands of new jobs. Understanding that this requires more than rhetoric; the plan demands action on key obstacles. He plans to slash excessive red tape, address inconsistent policy, and tackle the high cost of doing business. He will prioritize attracting investment and fostering growth in high-potential sectors such as agriculture, mining, tourism, and renewable energy, all of which are poised to create significant employment opportunities for the people.

– Living Together: He plans to build a better Zambia for all her people, ensuring that the tremendous economic growth achieved is equitably distributed across all strata of society—to young and old, men and women, rural and urban communities. This pillar is his pledge to leave no Zambian behind, ensuring that the benefits of our nation’s prosperity are shared by every citizen, in every province.

– Sustainable Government: He will steward the country for the next generation, waging an uncompromising war on corruption and building a transparent, accountable government that serves its people. This includes a commitment to fiscal responsibility, good governance, and an open-door policy that invites citizen participation in the decision

-making process. He will ensure that public office is a platform for service, not personal gain.With these 5 pillars, Mudolo envisions a better Zambia that will grow at a pace that other African countries are currently growing, if not better.

And so as Zambians scour through Presidential aspirants, what stands out about Mudolo is his deep determination, hard work, proven success record and that he is of a young age that can adapt to modern innovations that are impacting the growth of other nations.
