October 2, 2025 – Two people died while four others sustained serious injuries in a fatal Road Traffic Accident (RTA) which occurred on 30th September 2025, at about 20:20 hours at Luchinka Village, Chipili District, along the Chipili–Mansa Road.

The accident involved a Zhong Tong bus belonging to P. Mwansa Bus Services, driven by Mr. Laban Semba, aged 45, of Karumbi Village, Mansa District, which had extensive front damage.

Also involved was a Howo truck belonging to Uaza Investment and driven by Mr. Boston Phiri, aged 24, of Lusaka Makeni, which had damage to the tailgate and trailer light. A Toyota Corolla belonging to Ms. Daisy Sokone of Kitwe, was also damaged after being hit while parked off the road.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the bus, which was heading south, lost control due to excessive speed and rammed into the stationary truck before hitting the parked Toyota Corolla.

As a result:

1. Mr. Clinton Mulilo, aged 24, of Nakonde, died on the spot.

2. Mr. Mutalima Benjamin (adult), also died on the spot.

The following sustained various injuries:

3. Ms. Jane Chikata, aged 57.

4. Mr. Clement Kunda, aged 27.

5. Mr. Sydney Kansenga.

6. Mr. Webby Kasapo.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited in Mansa General Hospital mortuary, while the injured are admitted at the same hospital.

The Zambia Police Service urges motorists to avoid excessive speed, park vehicles safely, and exercise maximum caution to prevent accidents and loss of life.
