Brother-in-Law Allegedly Defiles 11-Year-Old Grade 4 Pupil in Chama District.

An 11-year-old Grade 4 pupil has been allegedly defiled by her brother-in-law in Chief Kambombo’s Chiefdom in the Chama District of the Eastern Province.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred on Thursday, 9th October, 2025, around 23:00 hours in Mbang’andwe Village.
The brief facts of the matter are that on 9 October, 2025, around 23:00 hrs, the victim was sleeping alone in a small house situated next to her parents’ house, and whilst sleeping, Daniel Kaluba, of unknown age, who is married to her elder sister, got inside.
Mr Mweemba says when the victim woke up, she found Daniel Kaluba on top of her, having carnal knowledge of her.
The victim tried to shout for help, but the suspect threatened to kill her; hence, the victim stopped shouting for fear of being killed.
Mr Mweemba says before the suspect could leave the house, his wife, aged 25, was passing by the same house from where she went to look for her husband and heard voices coming out of the same house and got concerned and recognised the voice of her husband.
He says the wife got inside the house and found her husband putting on his clothes while comforting the victim as she was crying.
Mr. Mweemba says when the suspect saw his wife, he ran away, leaving his T-shirt.
After the interview, the victim told her elder sister about what had happened, and the sister later notified their parents.
The victim was taken to Mwalala Rural Health Centre, and findings proved to have been consistent with allegations.
Mr Mweemba says a docket has been opened and that a manhunt has since been launched to bring to book the suspect, as he is currently on the run.
