A 21-year-old man in Sinda District, Eastern Province, has taken his own life by consuming maize preservative tablets out of fear of appearing before the elders due to impregnating a girl.
The deceased has been identified as Osward Banda of Njati Village in Chief Nyanje’s Chiefdom.
Brief facts of the matter are that the deceased Osward Banda was found in the bush with vomit nearby by Henry Phiri of the same address yesterday, 9th October 2025, around 09:00 hours.
He says Mr. Phiri, with the help of other community members, rushed Banda to Nyamutuma Clinic, where he died while receiving treatment.
The body showed no physical injuries, and the family has been advised to bury the body and mark the grave for possible exhumation.
