BREAKING INTO A BUILDING AND COMMITTING A FELONY THEREIN – CHILENJE POLICE STATION

October 11,2025 –

The Zambia Police Service wishes to inform the general public that officers from Chilenje Police Station through Mary Mwango Police Post have instituted investigations into a case of Breaking into a Building and Committing a Felony Therein which occurred at AKZ Mall in Chalala, Lusaka.

The incident happened today, October 11, 2025, around 05:00 hours when unknown criminals broke into a shop belonging to Ms.Shula Beleshi, of Chalala, and stole assorted goods valued at K456,500.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the criminals, who were five in number and wearing masks, gained entry into the shop by cutting the burglar bars. Two of the suspects were reportedly armed with unidentified firearms, while one stood guard at the gate. They are believed to have been using a motor vehicle whose registration number is yet to be established.Stolen items include:

One (01) Safe valued at K30,000

Six (06) SVC Combo Batteries valued at K238,140

One (01) 6KVA Inverter valued at K8,640

Five (05) 6P Inverters valued at K55,100

Three (03) 11KVA Inverters valued at K72,360

Nine (09) UPS Mini Power Banks valued at K13,500

Phone accessories valued at K5,000

Ten (10) WiFi routers valued at K6,000

The total value of the stolen property is K456,500.

The Zambia Police Service has since launched a manhunt for the suspects behind this act and wishes to appeal to members of the public to remain alert and report to the nearest police station or post any person found selling such items or suspected to be in possession of the same.

We further urge business owners to enhance security at their premises by engaging guards, installing alarm systems, and ensuring alternative adequate lighting around their properties such as solar lights.

Investigations in this matter have been instituted, and more updates will be provided as they become available.
