Police in Chipata have launched a manhunt for a 40-year-old man of Chief Chikuwe’s chiefdom for allegedly defiling his 4-year-old biological daughter.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba says the incident occurred on 1 October, 2025 and was reported to police yesterday by the victim’s mother.
The brief facts of the matter are that on the material day the mother of the victim had gone to her neighbour’s place to buy some beans which she wanted to plant in the garden.
When she came back home, she saw her husband, Nyirenda, carrying the victim in his hands, who was crying whilst half naked, as her dress was upwards, coming out from the thatched kitchen and running to the house.
Mr Mweemba says the mother took the victim, and checked why she was half naked, and she found some whitish fluids. That is how she called her husband and asked him what he did to the daughter.
The father at first refused, saying that he did not do anything to her, but later on he said that if she insisted on asking him the same thing, he was going to do it again because the child is his and no one can stop him or arrest him.
A docket has been opened, and no arrest has been made.
Investigations have been instituted to bring to book the culprit.
