Nkana MP Sedition Case Postponed to November Commencement of trial has been adjourned to November 21, 2025, for Nkana Member of Parliament, BINWELL MPUNDU, in a matter he is charged with seditious practices.

Lusaka Principal Resident Magistrate, WEBSTER MILUMBE has adjourned the matter, on grounds that Mr. MPUNDU’s defence lawyers are out of jurisdiction.

According to the Notice of Motion for Adjournment filed before Magistrate MILUMBE, the defence lawyers have travelled to Western province, for a High Court session.

The notice was filed by one of the defence lawyers, LEON LEMBA.

In this matter, Mr. MPUNDU has been charged with seditious practices; contrary to Section 57 subsection one of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

This is attributed to his remarks on Social Media on December 20, 2024, in which he questioned whether Zambians must begin to defend themselves with equal measure against political violence.

Mr. MPUNDU also accused UPND Deputy National Chairperson, TREVOR MWIINDE of having orchestrated the attack on Patriots for Economic Progress Leader, SEAN TEMBO.

The Member of Parliament, who was arrested on January 15, 2025, has denied the charge.
