The Parents Teachers Association-PTA at Musenga Day Secondary school have denied the 754 thousand Kwacha partial CDF contribution in the completion of the laboratory block in Mungwi District.
Speaking to Kasama Radio News, Musenga Day Secondary School PTA Chairperson Felix Munaile said the amount spent on the completion of the project has been exaggerated as the laboratory was built by the community.
The Chairperson said the community was only remaining with plastering, painting as well as putting a floor before the CDF intervention.
He claimed that the PTA committee has proposed to remove the CDF labels because the block is still in the hands of the community.
Mr. Munaile further added that efforts to engage the local authorities about the issue proved futile as they were always told that they will get back to them
And PTA members have added that the CDF amount used on completing the project would have been used on building other classrooms for Musenga Secondary School.
They said that the school which was upgraded from Primary to Secondary by the late President Michael Sata regime does not have enough classroom blocks to accommodate the senior grades.
The members said the government’s purpose of the CDF is to come up with community-led project unlike what transpired at the school.
The PTA has hence called on the government to engage investigation wings on the project and highlight how resources were utilized.
The committee has further called on the WDC to engage the right people when coming up with projects under the CDF.
Kasama Radio news contacted Mungwi Town Council in an effort to get a comment over the matter but it has received no response yet.
