The council stated that this is unfortunate conduct by the nurse, and it is a serious violation of her profession, noting that the nursing profession uniform represents dignity and professionalism. The NMCZ reminded practitioners to comply with the Professional Conduct and Ethics for Nurses and Midwifery (2024) and the Social Media Use Guidelines (2019) which forbids nurses and midwives from engaging in conduct which brings the profession into disrepute.
The NMCZ advised that the nurse involved has been identified and disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Act No. 10 of 2019.
Finally, the NMCZ called upon all nurses and midwives to adhere to professionalism and use social media appropriately to protect the reputation of the nursing profession.
