PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says Zambia is on the road to ‘something’ many citizens have never envisaged.
And Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Han Jing says Zambia’s favourable investment environment has made it a preferred destination for Chinese businesses in Africa.
President Hichilema said this during the commissioning of the US$641 million United Capital Fertilizer (UCF) urea plant, which includes an 85 megawatts (MW) thermal power plant.
At the same ceremony, the President commissioned Wonderful Group Industrial Park that will house a number of companies and witnessed the signing of UCF’s US$1.4 billion phase two urea plant project.
The newly commissioned UCF plant will be producing 300,000 metric tons of urea annually, 180,000 metric tons of ammonia per year, creating about 1,800 direct jobs, with all its raw materials sourced locally.
