A 13-year-old Grade 7 pupil at Lukanga Primary School in Kabwe, Central Province, has been hospitalized after sustaining a gunshot wound during a Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) operation.
The victim’s mother, Martha Chilekwa, says the incident occurred on October 17, 2025, at Kamushanga Market.
Ms. Chilekwa explains that her son was hit by a stray bullet after DEC officers allegedly fired shots to disperse a crowd that had become unruly during the operation.
She has since called for justice, expressing concern over the safety of innocent civilians during law enforcement activities.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
