Zambia Must Prosper (ZMP) president Kelvin Fube Bwalya (KBF) was chased from a Catholic fundraising dinner held at the ZNS Chamba Valley banquet hall in Lusaka on Friday evening.
The incident occurred when senior ZNS officials allegedly ordered KBF and his wife to leave the event, which was organized by Catholic Sisters under the “Sister to Sister” initiative.
KBF said he and his delegation had barely settled in when they were told to leave without any explanation. He described the experience as humiliating and unjustified, saying his wife, a long-time supporter of Church activities, was left deeply hurt.
He added that the Church should remain a neutral and inclusive space, not one that discriminates based on political affiliation. KBF has since demanded answers from the Zambia National Service command and the Ministry of Defence, calling the action an abuse of authority.
He also urged the Catholic Secretariat to reaffirm its non-partisan position, warning that such acts of intimidation threaten democracy and national unity.
