Four (4) people have died in a fatal road traffic accident that happened yesterday (Monday 20th October 2025) at Mulambe area, 15 Kilometres North of Kasama Town along Kasama – Mbala Road around 19:00 hours.
Disclosing the sad development to Radio Lutanda this morning, Northern Province Police Commanding Officer, Lucky Buumba Munkondya says Involved was a Motor vehicle Toyota Spacio which got extensively damaged.
Ms. Munkondya said the same spacio vehicle was being driven from Kasama Town heading towards Nseluka from South to North direction by Male Raymond Chilufya aged 36 of Nseluka area in Mungwi District adding that he sustained multiple injuries and died on the spot.
Northern Province Police Boss adds that the late Chilufya had 4 passengers on board of which three namely his wife, Cilean Chisanga Nachande aged 18, and his Son, Blessings Chilufya aged 7 Months both sustained multiple injuries each and died on the spot.
Ms. Munkondya identified the third passenger as Charity Mwila Musonda aged 43 of the same Nseluka area whom she said sustained a deep cut on the right leg, fractured left stating that she complained of body pains and died upon arrival at Kasama General Hospital.
The other passenger was Violet Kangwa aged 34 of Nseluka area who sustained a cut on the forehead and general body pains.
‘Also Involved was a Motor vehicle, Ford Ranger of registration which got extensively damaged on the front part disclosing that the same Ford Ranger was being driven from Nseluka heading towards Kasama, from North to South direction by Mr. Cephas Bwalya, aged 53 of Mulenga Hill township of Kasama District,’ Ms. Munkondya adds.
She said Mr. Bwalya who was bleeding from the nose and complained of serious body pains had two (2) Passengers on board who sustained minor injuries namely Mr. Cornelius Chisha, aged 41 and Mr. Sheriff Chibwe, aged 46 both of Milima area in Kasama District.
Northern Province Police Commanding Officer, Lucky Buumba Munkondya said the accident happened when the said driver of the Ford ranger, Mr. Cephas Bwalya was improperly overtaking an unknown truck and trailer and in the process, he collided with the stated Toyota Spacio which was coming from the opposite direction.’
The deceased bodies are lying in Kasama General Hospital Mortuary awaiting Postmortem examinations while the alive casualties are admitted to the same Hospital. Both Motor vehicles are in Police custody as investigations are underway,’ Police Chief for Northern Province disclosed.
