Two Lenovo laptops and a laptop bag valued at K60,050 have been stolen at Old Lundazi Urban Hospital during lunch in Lundazi District of Eastern Province.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred on October 21, 2025, between 13:10 and 13:40 hours.
According to Mr. Mweemba, Tinozge Phiri, a nurse and in-charge of the Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) department, reported that an unknown person broke into the unit’s data room and stole the said items.
Brief facts of the matter are that around 13:00 hours, Tinozge Phiri left for lunch with other colleagues, leaving some staff members within the unit.
Around 13:40 hours, as they returned to the office, Oscar Tonga found the door to the data room open, which is usually kept closed when no one is at the unit.
He checked around but found no one.
He alerted other colleagues, who later discovered that their laptops belonging to the facility were missing.
After confirming the break-in, the in-charge reported the matter to the police.
Police officers visited the scene and noted signs of breaking.
A docket has been opened.
And the police have launched an investigation, but no arrests have been made yet.
