Patriotic Front member Chishimba Kambwili has applied for bond from the Immigration Department following his arrest for an immigration-related offence.
Kambwili was arrested yesterday, October 22, 2025, while in prison custody for failing to present himself to an immigration officer for exit clearance — an act contrary to Section 16(1) of the Immigration and Deportation Act No. 18 of 2010.
The law requires any person leaving the country to appear before an immigration officer for exit clearance formalities.
If granted bond, Kambwili is expected to be released from prison today, October 23, 2025, after completing his five-month sentence for hate speech.
In his application for bond, filed through his lawyers on Wednesday October 22, 2025, Kambwili has cited Section 15(1) of the Immigration and Deportation Act No. 18 of 2010 and Article 18(3) of the Constitution.
