The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has been sued in the Lusaka High Court over the non-payment of K25,949,700, being the outstanding amount for the supply and delivery of maize.
In a statement of claim, Acu-Serve Corporate Brokers Limited has cited the Attorney General, Mulilo Kabesha, as the second respondent.
The company accuses the agency of breaching an agreement and its addendum by failing to pay for Grade ‘A’ non-GMO maize delivered in 2024.
Acu-Serve is seeking, among other reliefs, payment of the outstanding K25,949,700, more than K20 million for loss of earnings, and over K2 million in special damages covering transportation, storage, cleaning, and parking costs.
Both FRA and the Attorney General are yet to respond. When contacted for a comment, the Acu-Serve Director and CEO David Mwambazi declined, saying he does not conduct business through the media.
