A 35-year-old businessman has been shot in the arm and robbed of cash by armed criminals in Lusaka’s Mtendere East.
The incident occurred around 02:00 hours on Independence Day, while the victim was asleep inside his shop.
Police Deputy Spokesperson GEOFFREY CHILABI confirmed the development and identified the victim as Joseph Ndashimi.
Mr. CHILABI said the stolen items, including cash and mobile phones, were valued at about 7,000 kwacha.
He added that the robbers shot the victim in the arm as he tried to escape.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspects.
Meanwhile, some Mtendere East residents have appealed for increased police patrols in the area.
One resident, EVANS MATEMBO, said this was not the first robbery to occur and called for the construction of a police post to enhance security.
