Citizens First (CF) has joined the nation in commemorating the 11th memorial anniversary of Zambia’s fifth Republican President, the late Michael Chilufya Sata, who passed away on this day in 2014 at King Edward VII Hospital in London.
In a statement, CF President Harry Kalaba described the late Sata as a “true son of Africa” whose leadership was driven by service, justice, and empowerment of ordinary citizens.
“President Sata was a social democrat at heart, whose leadership was defined by action, inclusion, and a deep sense of empathy for the marginalized,” Kalaba said.Fondly remembered as the “Man of Action” and affectionately called “King Cobra,” Sata’s tenure saw major infrastructure growth, including the construction of modern hospitals, schools, universities, and extensive road networks connecting communities. His government also expanded power generation through projects such as the Kariba North Bank Power Station extension and key bridges aimed at national integration.
Kalaba said Sata’s vision brought government closer to the people and inspired patriotism, hard work, and unity.
“May his legacy continue to inspire future generations,” Kalaba added.
May His Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.
