Man Killed After Going for a Drink in Chadiza District.By White Luhanga A 61-Year-Old man has been murdered by unknown people in Chief Zingalume’s Chiefdom in Chadiza District of Eastern Province, after leaving home for a drinking spree in a neighboring village.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred between 16:00 hours on November 1, 2025, and 06:00 hours on November 2, 2025, along the Msokosera-Chiseba road.
Brief facts of the matter are that, on November 1, 2025, around 16:00 hours, Fackson Phiri, now deceased, left his home to visit the neighboring village of Chimwele for a drinking session.
Mr. Mweemba said that when Mr. Phiri did not return home which prompted his children to conduct a search and found him lying lifeless along the Msokosera-Chiseba road.
Police officers rushed to the scene and discovered the body lying face up with clotted blood covering the face.
Mr. Phiri sustained six deep wounds on the skull, suggesting that an axe might have been used in the crime.
A sealed bottle of Ice Spirit beer and the deceased’s itel phone were found at the scene.
The body has been deposited into Chadiza District Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examination results.
Mr. Mweemba stated that no arrests have been made yet and that investigations into the matter are underway.
