The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, in partnership with Zero Waste, has donated industrial kitchen equipment valued at 27,000 dollars the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Adult Hospital.

The donated items, which include two oil-jacketed pots, two industrial stoves, and three U-kettles, are expected to improve food preparation, hygiene, and operational efficiency in the hospital’s kitchen, directly enhancing patient nutrition and overall care.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Minister of Health Elijah Muchima expressed gratitude to TİKA and Zero Waste for their generosity, noting that the donation reflects goodwill and a genuine partnership between Zambia and Turkey. Dr. Muchima stated that the support comes at a critical time as the Ministry intensifies efforts to strengthen hospital infrastructure, improve patient welfare, and promote excellence in healthcare delivery.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment, under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, to strengthen partnerships with local and international stakeholders, ensuring Zambia’s hospitals continue to be centers of hope, healing, and comfort.

The Minister also commended the management and staff of UTH Adult Hospital for their dedication to patient care and urged them to make effective use of the donated equipment to improve meal services for patients.

The Turkish Ambassador to Zambia, Huseyin Barbaros Dicle, reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to supporting sustainable development in Zambia and praised the collaboration as a demonstration of the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Zero Waste representative Lewis Zimba emphasized the importance of sustainability and operational efficiency in public institutions, noting that the donated industrial kitchen equipment will enhance hygiene, efficiency, and the quality of meals prepared for patients at UTH.
