A man believed to be in his late 20s has been found d£ad along the Pipeline Road, a few meters from Katozi Primary School in Nakonde District.
The victim, identified only as Saidi, is suspected to be a Tanzanian national and a motorbike rider who operated from the Black Market rank in Nakonde.
His lifeless body was discovered early this morning lying on its side, with what appeared to be a bullet wound on the right side of the chest.
A broken clutch lever lay beside him, and one of his shoes, the right one, was off his foot, a few inches away from where he fell.
Blood stains were visible on his chest and the ground around him, suggesting he may have struggled briefly before dying.
Preliminary information indicates that Saidi may have been attacked and robbed of his motorbike between 23:00 and 24:00 hours.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear despite his bike allegedly stolen.
Police have since collected the body, which has been taken to the mortuary as investigations into the incident continue.
Meanwhile, Katozi Headwoman Lenny Namukonda, who was among the first people to arrive at the scene, has urged motorbike riders to stop operating at night and take greater precautions for their safety.
Old Fife Ward Councilor Jackson Chamba described the incident as deeply unfortunate.
