Two people have d!ed while two others, including the driver, sustained serious injur|es after a speeding tipper truck lost control and hit into pedestrians before crashing into a small restaurant in Chinsali District.

The accident happened on Monday, 10th November 2025, around 13:00 hours along the Chinsali District Hospital–Choshi Road.

It involved a Volvo tipper truck, registration number AQB 2310, which was being driven from the southern to the northern direction by Maluba Johnathan, aged 25, of FTC Compound in Chinsali District.

According to Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Dennis Moola, the driver, who was speeding, lost control of the vehicle and hit three pedestrians before crashing into a small restaurant building where several people were seated.

The impact caused the building to collapse.

One pedestrian, identified as Memory Mulenga, aged 32, of Choshi Village in Chief Nkula’s area, died on the spot after sustaining fatal head injuries.

Two others, Stella Mulenga, aged 20, and Precious Mwila, aged 21, both of Choshi Village sustained serious injur|es and were rushed to Chinsali General Hospital together with the driver.

Commissioner Moola has confirmed that Stella Mulenga di£d on Tuesday evening, 11th November 2025, while receiving treatment at Chinsali General Hospital.

The driver and the surviving pedestrian remain admitted to hospital, while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the Chinsali District Hospital mortuary.

The Volvo tipper truck, which had a shattered windscreen, broken headlights, and a depressed roof, has since been impounded and parked at Chinsali Police Station.

Police have urged motorists to exercise maximum caution and avoid excessive speed, which continues to claim lives on the roads.
