Chisekesi Police Post in Monze District has been gutted by fire in a suspected case of arson.
The incident occurred in the early hours of 14th November 2025, around 02:00 hours, with the case reported to Monze Police Station via phone by Nchimunya Dokoola, aged 29, of Location Compound, Chisekesi.
Meanwhile, a team of officers from Monze Police Station, together with firefighters from the Monze Town Council Fire Brigade, responded to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire.
Damage included office equipment, records, and one firearm, while other property was secured and remains intact.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Moono Namalongo, says initial findings revealed that a foreign padlock, unknown to officers stationed at the post, had been placed on the grill door.
He adds that an empty container suspected to have contained flammable liquid was discovered near the scene, suggesting the fire was a deliberate act of arson.
Namalongo states that a comprehensive investigation has been launched to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify those responsible.
