Chipata, Nov. 15, 2025— Vubwi Member of Parliament Ackleo Banda has escaped unhurt in a Road Traffic Accident along the Great East Road in Nyimba District of Eastern province.
The accident occurred at around 17:00 hours at Malilangwe area, approximately 32 kilometers west of Nyimba District.
According to Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba, the accident involved three vehicles, a Freightliner Truck and Trailer, a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by the Vubwi Lawmaker, and a Toyota Hilux with a trailer.
Mr Banda, who was traveling from Lusaka to Chipata, was carrying one passenger, Ismail Chirwa, who also escaped unhurt.
The Police Commanding Officer said that the accident happened when the Freightliner Truck, driven by Edson Chazo, failed to negotiate a curve and swerved to the right, hitting both the Toyota Land Cruiser and Toyota Hilux.
The drivers of the Freightliner Truck and Toyota Hilux also escaped unhurt.And when contacted Vubwi Member of Parliament Ackleo Banda confirmed that he is in good health.
